Asynchronous Ratcheting Tree (ART) Encryption

  •  

    Protocol for encrypted group messaging that is scalable in size while maintaining the intended level of security.  Other protocols lose integrity when individuals leave a group conversation, or when they add multiple devices to groups. ART solves this issue.

Messaging Layer Security (MLS)

  •  

    Secures messages by encrypting each individual message with a separate encryption key.  This allows a more secure transmission vs. the significantly more widespread Transport Layer Security (TLS), which only secures the transport system (or “pipe”) the messages are sent through.

Perfect-Forward Secrecy (PFS)

  •  

    A feature of Mercury Workspace. Secures past communications by generating new keys for each message.  If a key for a present message is compromised, the malicious actor does not gain access to previous messages.

Perfect Post-Compromise Security (PCS)

  •  

    A feature of Mercury Workspace.  Secures future messages sent on the platform if the key for the present message is compromised. New keys are generated for each message, forcing malicious actors to start all over again.
